Other World Computing (OWC) has announced that it has been named as the exclusive worldwide distributor of all Newer Systems Technology (d.b.a. Newer Technology) products. All sales and distribution of Newer Technology's products will be handled from OWC's Woodstock facility. "OWC is pleased to have been selected as the official worldwide distributor of NewerTech's products," said Larry O'Connor, founder and president of Other World Computing. "NewerTech is well known for producing the highest quality Macintosh computer upgrade peripherals ever made, as well as providing engineering and tech support excellence that is second to none. In fact, I believe that the upgrade market's current success and viability is largely a result of NewerTech's technology. We look forward to an ongoing successful relationship." "Over the last several years, OWC has proven itself as one of the leading retailers in terms of sales and support for computer upgrade products," said Rick Estes, president of Newer Systems Technology. "We selected OWC based on that reputation and its ability to service our customers beyond the initial sale of a product. It is good to be in business with the NewerTech brand and products, and we look forward to getting our products out to the public through OWC very shortly." What's up with this? However, TechnoWarehousellc.com has announced new lower prices on a popular selection of Power Mac upgrades and peripherals. Customers can save as much as US$30 on brand-new Newer Technology G3 and G4 CPU upgrades. Newer Technology MAXpowr G3 and G4 ZIF Power Mac processor upgrades for Power Mac G3 beige and Blue & White systems: 450/1MB/225 G4 was $239 - now $219 400/1MB/200 G4 was $199 - now $179 500/1MB/250 G3 was $239 - now $199 Newer Technology MAXpowr G3 PCI upgrades are designed for the 7300-9600 series Power Macs: 500/1MB/250 G3 was $229 - now $199 500/1MB/250 G3 "nearly new" now $179 333/1MB/166 G3 "nearly new" now $99 "When you can upgrade to a G4 processor for only US$179, it's a no-brainer decision. Even boosting an older six-slot 604 Power Mac to a 500MHz G3 is a tremendous performance improvement for relatively few dollars. Still popular due to the six PCI slots, these Mac models are treasured by those who work on digital audio and video projects," explained Terry Unrein, TechnoWarehouse. Special pricing is also available on other Newer products. Check TechnoWarehouse's website for complete details. Something, likely a simple misunderstanding, is amiss here. I've sent e-mails to both companies asking for clarification -- stay tuned |
