Recently MacCentral brought readers news about Newer Technology's rebirth; the once-bankrupt Mac upgrade peripheral maker is now under new ownership and promises to have new products available soon. Today Mac peripheral reseller Other World Computing (OWC) announced that it has been named as the exclusive worldwide distributor of Newer Technology products.

OWC founder and president Larry O'Connor said that his company is proud to have been selected. "NewerTech is well known for producing the highest quality Macintosh computer upgrade peripherals ever made, as well as providing engineering and tech support excellence that is second to none," said O'Connor.

Newer Systems Technology president Rick Estes said that he selected OWC as a result of the company's reputation and ability to service customers. "Over the last several years, OWC has proven itself as one of the leading retailers in terms of sales and support for computer upgrade products," said Estes.

Newer was once a major manufacturer of processor upgrade products for the Macintosh. Estes said that he plans to offer a full range of Macintosh products in the coming months. Newer Technology's Web site went online this past month. The original company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection in 2001. Estes, Newer's former vice president of operations, bought the rights to the company from the bankruptcy court after the filing.
