An awesome new FM transmitter for your iPod or PowerBook.

FM Transmitter picThe perfect new iPod and computer accessory from Newer Tech, the RoadTrip! simply plugs into your cigarette lighter, and provides a crisp and clear radio signal on one of two radio stations.

It often reminds me of plugging directly into the car, because it is so simple to get your music pumping. Simply plug one end into the cigarette lighter in your car, and the other into your music device, select a song, and tune to the station! The stations work in almost all areas, but if not, Other World Computing also sells a 88.7Mhz version of the transmitter. Otherwise, the RoadTrip! transmits to 107.7Mhz.

Not only that, the signal is perfect. We found even better results if you turned the sound on the device to about 80% and then adjusted the car radio from there. You can hear everything in your car now, from music played of your iPod, to a DVD played of your PowerBook or iBook. The RoadTrip! works great with the brand new PodPod ($9.99, Griffin Technology), “a captain chair for your iPod.” It is basically a seat for your iPod, while in use with the RoadTrip.

Word on the street is, that in January, NewerTech will introduce the RoadTrip! 2, the same device with one added feature. Power. The RoadTrip! 2, will connect to the bottom of your iPod, and not only transmit the clear signal to the radio, but charge your iPod’s battery!

If you would like a simple solution, for any device, the RoadTrip! is a perfect stocking stuffer, and should be on your own Christmas list this season. It costs only $19.99, and provides a simple, easy to use solution for listening to your audio device in the car.
